Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

Harry Potter has spent ten years under the stairs at number four, Privet Drive, until Rubeus Hagrid tells him he is a wizard. Sorted into Gryffindor, he becomes friends with Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger and learns that a blood-red stone is hidden in the school. Professor Quirrell, sharing his body with a diminished Lord Voldemort, tries to steal it. The trio passes the protections, and Harry reaches the Stone only because he wants to find it, not use it. Quirrell dies. Voldemort flees.
