Harry Potter Christmas market in Munich, Germany. From November 28 to December 6, Munich’s Praterinsel will host an event packed with magic from the new HBO Harry Potter series. We’ll see if this idea spreads to more places around the world.

While waiting for the new Harry Potter Shop on Oxford Street to open, I’m exploring London in Strike’s footsteps. Any chance you could share another London location from book nine, @jk_rowling, @RGalbraith ?

The Marauders’ Map may have exposed one of the biggest secrets in Harry Potter years before anyone realised it. Think about it: Fred and George Weasley spent years using the map to track people moving around Hogwarts. They must have seen Peter Pettigrew’s name countless times, often appearing right beside Ron. But here’s the disturbing part: Peter Pettigrew was supposed to be dead. As far as the wizarding world knew, Sirius Black had betrayed the Potters, and Peter had been killed. So why did Fred and George never question why an unfamiliar name kept following their younger brother everywhere? Did they simply overlook it, or did they never pay close enough attention to realise what they were seeing? The Marauders’ Map knew the truth long before Harry did.

What if Neville Longbottom was supposed to be the hero of the Harry Potter story all along? One detail fans sometimes overlook is that the prophecy made by Sybill Trelawney could have referred to two different boys: Harry Potter and Neville Longbottom. Both were born at the end of July. Both had parents who had defied Voldemort three times. Both potentially fit the description of the child who would eventually challenge the Dark Lord. But Voldemort chose Harry, marked him as his equal and unknowingly set the prophecy in motion. Now imagine a different timeline where Voldemort had chosen Neville instead. Would Neville have grown up with the same confidence? Would his parents have survived? Would he have become the person capable of leading the resistance against Voldemort? What’s particularly fascinating is that Neville eventually became one of the most important figures in the Second Wizarding War. He stood against Voldemort when Hogwarts needed someone to lead the resistance, destroyed Nagini and helped bring the Dark Lord’s reign to an end. The boy who once struggled in basic Defence Against the Dark Arts lessons ultimately became one of the heroes of the wizarding world. Perhaps Neville was never the less important candidate. He was simply the boy Voldemort didn’t choose. Do you think Neville could have fulfilled the prophecy and defeated Voldemort if Harry had never survived?

🏰 I never thought a fairy-tale world could really exist! 🎆✨ Last year on a trip to Japan with my kid, at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios Japan (Osaka), we ran into this dreamlike castle light show. In that moment it felt like the whole fairy-tale world had come alive! ❤️ A year later, watching this video again, it’s still unbelievably beautiful. Scenery can be forgotten — but the scenery you watched with your child becomes a lifelong memory. If you had the chance, who would you most want beside you for a moment like this? 👇
